According to current knowledge, it does not appear that a woman can pass on the virus to her baby during pregnancy. The virus is spread through contact with carriers and contaminated objects.
To promote breastfeeding, usual practices such as skin-to-skin contact, breastfeeding, and cohabitation with the baby continue to be valued.
For children age 0 to 17
According to the available data, children and adolescents represent a small percentage of cases (less than 1%). Usually, they do not develop severe disease. In fact, most infected children have presented with mild symptoms.
