Designated Assessment Centres (DACs) in Sherbrooke and Cowansville
Four designated assessment centres (DACs) are open within the jurisdiction of the CIUSSS de l’Estrie – CHUS, namely in Sherbrooke, Cowansville, Granby and Magog. The mandate of these clinics is to medically assess any person with symptoms of influenza-like illness (ILI), gastroenteritis, or COVID-19 who requires primary health care that cannot be provided over the phone by their family physician or a primary-care nurse practitioner (PCNP).
Designated assessment centres have been implemented as the result of a provincial position taken by the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux (MSSS), given that the transmission of the virus is now active within the population and to ensure a single-window access to infected individuals and thereby reduce the risks of community transmission.
Protective measures will be put in place in these centres in order to take in all these people while limiting the risks to other patients and the nursing staff," pointed out Dr. Suzanne Gosselin, Directrice adjointe des services professionnels at the CIUSSS de l’Estrie – CHUS. She went on to say that DACs will gradually be deployed in the other territories under the CIUSSS de l’Estrie – CHUS.
The Sherbrooke DAC is located at the GMF-R CMU du Sommet (1280 King Street East, Sherbrooke). It is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. by appointment only.

The Granby DAC is located at the Cégep de Granby at 235 Saint-Jacques Street. It is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. by appointment only.
The Magog DAC is located at the Centre d’éducation des adultes des Sommets at 350 St-David Street, Magog. It is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. by appointment only.
